First and foremost, we
are a running club and our members enjoy their running - but we
also know how to have a good time! Ask any of our current members
and they will tell you what a friendly, social lot we are. Some
members compete in The Leicestershire Road Running League Races
and The Derby Runner Cross Country League Leicestershire & Derbyshire
Races.
Desford is on the Hinckley
side of Leicester and many of our members live in the surrounding
villages. There are also quite a few of them who travel from further
a field e.g. Kirkby Muxloe, Groby and Leicester Forest East. Some
even travel from Leicester, preferring us to some of the bigger
clubs.
When we go to local races
there is usually a group of supporters to cheer us on and give encouragement.
If we go to races that are further away (e.g. the county, region
and national cross country championships), we share cars or join
with other clubs to hire a coach. On the way back from any race
we usually stop at a pub somewhere for a drink (to rehydrate of
course)!
Our membership year runs
from April - March. Subscriptions are as follows:
Join April - June = £22
+ £8 for club vest
Join July - Sept = £16 + £8 for club vest
Join Oct - Dec = £11 + £8 for club vest
Join Jan - Feb = £5 + £8 for club vest
Join March = free + £8 for club vest
Students age 16-21 membership
is free. £8 for club vest
| Throughout the year
there are several social events for club members and their families,
such as skittles evenings, barbeques, pub meals and of course
a Christmas 'Do'.
We even have a group that go camping over the Race The Train
weekend (see race diary for this year's
dates)! |

We are based at Sport in Desford
(or SiD as it's known locally), a Community Amateur Sports Club. Click
