Looks like the date for this year’s Round Leicester Relay is Sunday 15th
September. There is information on the following website, http://www.round-leicester-relay.info but basically it’s a team relay consisting of 13 stages around the footpaths and roads of
Leicestershire, roughly following the path of the Leicester Round. Each leg is between 5.5 and 8 miles long.
It starts at 8am and finishes around 6pm. Obviously you only need to be their for your designated leg, but supporting your team mates is encouraged.
It would be great to get a couple of teams out and is another really good day out. It also provides a different challenge to the usual league races. The logistics of getting people around the county and if possible checking the route prior to the race is often a challenge but we realise its not always
possible. So if you want to run but don't want to travel too far to run, then let us know. I’m sure we’ll be able to accommodate most request, especially if you get in early!
As I said we’re looking to get at least a couple of teams out and if you’re even half interested it, have a chat with a committee member or someone in the club who has done it. Ask around. We’ll quite happily explain it to you and look forward to a good day out. If your interested or if you need more details can you please drop us an e-mail or mention it to any committee member. Gary Grimsley has around 8 or 9
names so far but he and Graham Hobbs are more than willing to take on more runners, so please get in touch.
We will also be looking to resurrect the post RRL meal, so suggestions of where we could go would be appreciated. Perhaps even a bbq? Let us know what you think.
