Another update on a few things following last week’s xc race at Grace Dieu.
We had a drop in numbers down to 25, which is still pretty good for a league xc event.
I’ve attached an excel file containing details of the Striders' league results, the Individual Club results, League Tables and also the Individual league results by age category; very similar to the one I regularly published for the road races. Any questions please drop me a line.
Derby Runner XC League Tables
Unfortunately, Grace Dieu saw the second worse result for the men’s team, where they gaining just 2 points; this in turn had a detrimental affect on the combined team which also picked up just 2 points; a result which has left this team second from bottom and in serios danger of being relegated. The men’s team is fourth from bottom and also struggling a little.
I’m not sure how many teams go down but each division has been increased by 2 teams to 10, so I suspect that 2 will be relegated; in which case we really need our, so far absent men, to step up to the mark and help get this team up the table in the next event. Our ladies are doing the business with some excellent results and a comfortable mid-table position of 5th place.
Individual Standings - Club - XC
So to the individual standings.
Male Seniors - The men’s category has a new leader; with the absence of Kieran Billington, Richard Veitch took the opportunity to move to the top of the leader board when he was second senior male behind Dave Yarnall. Kieran has slipped to third with Dave moving into second. It’s likely that these three end up in the top slots and if Richard completes the final two races he should be crowned Champion…….but he needs to be at the races first!
Female Seniors - we still have three ladies who’ve completed all of this season’s races and they occupy the top three spots and their position haven’t changed either. Even though we had Emma Marvin in as our first senior to finish, Khloe Campbell still ehads the table, whilst Emily Newton in second and Vicky Keenan third.
Female Veterans - Mhairi Billington continues to pile the pressure onto her opponents in this category and took her third win in four races; she’s 8 points ahead of second placed Anita Beeby who has leap-frogged Helen Webb and Naomi Lunn who both missed Grace Dieu.
Cheryl Tonks and Rhydell Poole also took advantage of their absence to move into third and fourth place respectively.
Male Veterans - Richard Billington is storming his way to another title with his fourth win on four races. Graham Hobbs all but blew his chance of second place away by turning his ankle for the second league race running; this has opened an opportunity for Mike Matthews and Damien Miles to battle it out for second place. That’s as long as they finish the last two races, as the have new ‘boy’ Dave Patterson breathing down their necks.
So that’s the current situation; two races to go and an appeal for the club’s sake; we need people out for our own race in particular to try a get as many points as we can to pull the men’s and mixed teams away from the foot of their respective tables.
The only thing to add here is a new distance to the list, which I forgot to add last time around and that a couple of times for 1 mile.
This is an unusual distance off the track but Graham Hobbs and Alison Coullam took part in an event at Mallory Park on December 29th December last year. As they’re the only Striders’ who’ve put a claim in for this distance, they hold the club records! Graham has a time of 5:38 and Alison, 7:40.
However, I’m sure we’ll have other claims soon….
