Paddy Crowe Championship Race
The Paddy Crowe Championship Race was renamed from the Club Championship Race in 2025 in memory of Paddy Crowe.
The race is open to all paid-up members of the club. Runners set off in reverse order - the person with the slowest handicap time sets off first and the fastest time sets off last.
Handicap times are calculated from races and other events over the year. Theoretically, the handicap times should unwind so that all runners finish the challenging five-mile course around the familiar Desford highways and byways together.
In reality, of course, the combination of the handicap times and the runners' performance on the night itself mean there is always a clear winner among both male and female competitors.
The idea is that it’s a level playing field and everybody has a chance of claiming the prizes, which are handed out on the night to the first male and female finishers.
The race night always concludes with a traditional buffet supper at SiD.
